The Importance Of Touch | The Divine Company

“Touch comes before sight, before speech, it is the first language and the last, and it always tells the truth”

 Margaret Atwood

importance of touch

We have 5 senses, each one just as important as the next. However unlike the other senses, which are located at specific body parts, touch is a sense that is all over your body. The entire body is sensitive to touch and almost any part of the skin is able to sense touch.

Touch is a part of every day life and is an important part of being human. We rely on the sense of touch in many ways, from determining the temperature to feeling the texture of an item. Not only does touch allow us to feel but touch can spark emotions and a sense of belonging.

Our sense of touch effects everything we do, it is not something we learn, it is something we are born with, the urge to touch, feel and experience. Touch is key to our survival as humans, and whilst it mostly goes unnoticed today we want to bring the focus back to touch and how much it does affect our lives in every way shape and form. Our hands drive us, feed us and comfort those around us. As we touch we learn and experience, it is important to recognise the impact that touch has on us as beings and appreciate the way in which we communicate touch.

The way you communicate touch is so important in how you relate to everyone and everything in your life. After all, you give and receive love through touch, the most beautiful language of all.

“Touch comes before sight, before speech, it is the first language and the last, and it always tells the truth” Take a moment to appreciate the skin you are in and value how touch impacts your every day life.
